Biography of Luan Nel Luan Nel received his BA Fine Arts degree in 1993 from the University of the Witwatersrand. In the same year he won the Judges Prize in the Sasol New Signatures Competition. He obtained his Higher Diploma in Education in 1994 from the University of the Witwatersrand. In 1998 and 1999 he participated in a residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam as well as a research residency at the Dutch Institute in Rome. Nel has had various solo and group exhibitions locally and internationally. He currently lives and works in Cape Town.
